What started off as a few ideas collected onto a board on my Pinterest page, quickly turned into Matthew’s new room. Even though we knew it would be a big change for him to go from his crib in a completely different room to a toddler bed in a new room, eventually it would be for the better. He was a great sleeper in his crib and I wish we could’ve kept him in there a little bit longer, but he was diving out of it and we were afraid he was going to hurt himself.
I absolutely love decorating and I was especially excited to have a blank canvas to work with. I decided to share every detail on here because I’ve had a huge response from photos I’ve posted asking about paint color, wall decals & furniture. I wanted this room to be something Matthew could grow into so it’s still a little bare. In the future I plan on putting more things up on the wall and on the shelves.
Before & After
Paint Color: Olympic – Morning Breeze
I love Pottery Barn furniture but not the price so I found a similar style bed from Toys R Us – $129.99
DRAKDJUR Duvet Cover & Pillow Case from Ikea – $19.99
LEN Fitted Sheet from Ikea – $5.99
The book shelves are actually picture ledges from Ikea’s Ribba Picture Ledge $9.99
We decided to put the dresser in the closet for now until he’s a little bit older, this way we don’t have to put drawer locks on it etc.
I’ve always wanted to create a photo collage on the wall and knew Matthew’s big-boy room would be the perfect place to start.
Some frames were gifts, while others were purchased at Ikea & Home Goods
The Alphabet Frame was purchased at Target and the Train was purchased at Home Goods
The storage unit is from Ikea – EXPEDIT Shelving Unit $69.99
Storage Bins were purchased at Home Goods
One of my favorite things in Matthew’s new room is this wall decal I found on Etsy
Lola Decor VINYL WALL ART – $26.00 – All Boy Quote (size: 25X25)
I would eventually like to hang bunting flags up that match his sheet set but I haven’t had the time to make them yet
Here is an idea of what I’d like to do:
